One of New Zealand’s most successful and popular bands has been named as a headline act for the 2017 One Love Festival in today’s second line-up announcement.
One Love
The incomparable Six60 joins the bill alongside the other headlining act, Jamaican reggae sensation Tarrus Riley, at the two-day extravaganza presented by Pato Entertainment.
Six60 have dominated the charts and won countless awards since bursting onto the New Zealand music scene with their self-titled debut album in 2011. They repeated the success with their second album SIX60 (2) in 2015 and have continued to own stages around the world with their unique blend of soul, reggae, rock, dub-step and drum ‘n’ bass.
A host of other top-notch international and local acts are also included in the second installment of bands and artists performing at the festival, which will be held on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5 2017 at the Tauranga Domain.
They are: American reggae-pop band Big Mountain, best known for their massive 90s hit ‘Baby I Love Your Way’ – a cover of the classic Peter Frampton tune. Firm favourites on the reggae circuit here and abroad, Auckland-based Three Houses Down are also joining the bill and will be performing old hits and new music from their latest album due to release in November 2016. A huge drawcard is the inclusion of one of NZ’s hottest stars right now, KINGS, who will wow crowds with smash hits like ‘Don’t Worry About It’. Also on the line-up is L.A.B (KORA Brothers), which features some of the original members of the famed Kiwi band KORA who also are working on a surprise for the festival with special guests. Local legend Che Fu – who needs no introduction – and Aussie reggae band Paua round off the second line-up.
The artists and bands listed in today’s second line-up join some of the biggest names in roots, rock and reggae, including Kolohe Kai, Rebel Souljahz, Fiji, The Green, Steel Pulse, Black Slate, Katchafire, Aaradhna, Spawnbreezie, Sons of Zion, Sammy J, Tomorrow People and Josh Wawa.
In its fifth year, One Love is a colourful music and cultural spectacle like no other. It’s grown to become one of the southern hemisphere’s most popular reggae-based festivals and attracts punters from across the globe. Set in the heart of Tauranga and just a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches in the country, the festival is held over Waitangi weekend and is expected to draw a record crowd in 2017.
Over 50% of tickets to the 2017 festival are sold already and with this exciting second announcement, the remainder will go quickly.
Camping for One Love will again be an option for those coming from out of town. Camping tickets are available at $89 per person, which covers two nights camping – arrival on February 4 and exit by 12pm on February 6. The campsites are at the ASB Baypark Stadium, with full 24-hour security, buses to and from the venue, secure monitored car parks, toilets and showers, food available, licensed bar and an official camping after-party
