AVALANCHE CITY will join California rock legends – multi Grammy Award winners and Vocal Group Hall of Famers, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS, this April 20th at Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena.
The 2011 APRA Silver Scroll winner Dave Baxter (Avalanche City) will perform all the hits from his latest album WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES as well as his acclaimed debut OUR NEW LIFE ABOVE THE GROUND. The much loved singer-songwriter enjoys a superb reputation for his live shows and will be joined by his touring band, ensuring delivery of the seasoned blend of summer-pop /neo-folk musical experience one would expect of an Avalanche City performance.
A global enduring favourite of the 1970’s, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS combine a touch of blues, and plenty of soul and rock ‘n roll to create their nostalgic Californian rock sound. Their celebrated back catalogue of music includes hits like ‘Listen To The Music’, ‘Long Train Runnin’, ‘Black Water’, ‘China Grove’, ‘Takin’ It To The Streets’, ‘Just All Right’, ‘Rockin’ Down The Highway’ and so many more.
THE DOOBIE BROTHERS’ legacy has been built not just on hit records, but also on an unrivalled commitment to musical integrity and a steadfast allegiance to their enthusiastic fan base. The band’s ability to evolve in a constantly changing industry and connections to generations of listening audiences is a testament to their craft. With founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, and 30 year-plus veteran John McFee, The Doobies will be performing as a seven-piece band including Bill Payne, Ed Toth, John Cowan and Marc Russo.
THE DOOBIE BROTHERS’ energetic and engaging live performances are renowned – fans should prepare for a potent rock ‘n’ roll musical ride as they are taken through the very best of a hit laden catalogue of songs. This is a show not to be missed.
