R Kelly will bring his three hour non-stop award winning hit show, THE KING OF R&B Tour, to New Zealand for the first time

R&B Royalty Producer and International Superstar R Kelly will be bringing his three hour non-stop award winning hit show, THE KING OF R&B Tour, to New Zealand for the first time for one show only at Auckland’s Trust Arena on Friday 15 February 2019.

Born in Chicago 1967, Robert Sylvester Kelly was one of five children who grew up in Chicago’s housing projects.  Raised by a single mother he began singing in the church choir as a young child. In 1990 he landed a record deal with Jive Records and released his first album with his group Public Announcement.  The singles Honey Love and Slow Dance shot the album to success followed by the 1993 debut solo record, 12 Play.

Over his illustrious career, R Kelly has won numerous awards including; three Grammy Awards for his cross over hit I Believe I Can FlyHe has also won BET, Billboard, Soul Train, NAACP and American Music Awards.

In March 2011 he was named ‘the most successful R&B artist of the last 25 years’ by Billboard Magazine Kelly has released 12 solo studio albums and sold over75 million albumsand singles worldwide, making him the most successful R&B male artist of the 1990s and one of the best- selling music artists of all time.  He has been credited for helping redefine R&B and hip hop, earning him the nicknameKing of R&B. 

Kelly with his distinctive sound and style has worked with other industry heavyweight artists such as Gladys KnightJay, Z, Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson for who Kelly penned the 1995 chart-topper You Are Not Alone.
