The 99% ANGEL mixtape is a record of two halves, which cleverly showcases the two worlds in which Theia co-exists – hook-laden mainstream pop, alongside edgy and experimental alt-pop.

First single ‘Kitty Kat’ was a bright and glossy pop track, which drew comparisons to Charli XCX and received radio play in Australia on triple j Unearthed and The Hits networkThe second song ‘Frat Boyz’ was a ‘fan track’, which proved a hit on TikTok with hundreds creating dances.

Today’s release ‘99% Angel’ is another bad-ass track, which showcases Theia‘s bold approach to songwriting and sonic experimentation. The mixtape’s tour de force ‘Celebrity’ will complete the project.

The 99% ANGEL mixtape is the third body of work from the NZ-born artist, who emerged in 2016 with her debut single ‘Roam’. Her self-titled debut EP earned her three nominations at the 2017 NZ Music Awards; while her second NOT YOUR PRINCESS was nominated for two awards at the 2019 Waiata Māori Music Awards. Theia has twice been a finalist in the pop category of the International Songwriting Competition – this year her song ‘Not Your Princess’ is a finalist alongside ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones And I

This summer Theia played at some of NZ’s biggest festivals, and opened for LEON (in NZ and Australia), Tones And I and Mika. She also headlined the Heaps Gay Pardi Gras at Sydney Mardi Gras with Dorian Electra.

While in lockdown, you’ll catch Theia performing Zoom club shows and live streaming festivals. Follow her on Instagram for dates and times.
