THE BAMBOOS – “Night Time People”: new album preview, interview

This week the Melbourne based soul-funk band The Bamboos are to release their eighth studio album, Night Time People. Simon caught up with band leader, Auckland born Lance Ferguson, to chat about the new album, and in particular a stand out song which the band delivers in three versions, each with a different vocal, and different lyrics, from separate international artists. The song, called “Broken” deals with the sensitive issue of mental health.

Simon also chats to Lance about the band’s soul origins, when they might tour New Zealand, and about the state of play in today’s digital music industry, where so many musicians can make so much music – but how to find a meaningful sized audience in such a crowded space?

The Bamboos “Night Time People is released on July 6.
